About the product

Why you'll love this

Regular paper towels are made from tree fibers - what the industry calls virgin pulp. Wood fibers are long so they can be loosely woven. This makes for a fluffy, absorbent product (like a sponge) but at the expense of our forest ecosystems 😞.

Disposable bamboo paper towels are strong, absorbent, and (most importantly) a sustainable option for the majority of your household clean-up + wipe-down needs.

Think of them as an awesome alternative for your average wiping needs and the perfect sidekick to dishcloths or sponges for bigger spills.

Core features

  • FSC®certified, 100% bamboo fibers
  • 90 select-a-size sheets per roll
  • 100% bamboo core
  • 2-ply and embossed texture for extra strength
  • No inks, dyes, or scents
  • BPA-free & hypoallergenic
  • Plastic-free packaging
  • Compostable and biodegradable

Happy wiping guarantee

Our goal is to make it easy for people to switch from traditional toilet paper to tree-free TP. We understand that your bottom might be used to a mega-extra-plush paper brand made from trees and you might think you're not brave enough to switch to tree-free. BUT we believe in the quality of our product, and we believe in you!

We're confident you're gonna be happy wiping the better way, but if for any reason you find that tree-free toilet paper is not for you - just return it to us for a full refund. You have 100 days to decide.

10 Things That Make Bamboo TP Awesome!

Bamboo grows 10-20x faster than trees. It grows up to 3 feet a day and, when you cut it, it just shoots right back up - a super-renewable resource!

While forests take 30-50 years to mature after being replanted, most bamboos can be harvested every year.

Bamboo is a giant grass. As a colony plant, it's root system distributes energy efficiently to shoot up new stalks and expand its roots, which is how it spreads and grows so fast.

Although bamboo is a grass, the stalks are thick and woody. The result is a soft and silky fiber that evolved to bend rather than break, making it stronger than some steel alloys!

Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic which means it's gentle on even the most sensitive bottoms.

Bamboo grows naturally and organically - no need for fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. Planting bamboo groves prevents soil erosion and can help degraded lands come back to life.

The bamboo used in our toilet paper is not farmed commercially. We source it from FSC® certified farms where it provides a source of income and stability for communities.

The bamboo is hand-cut and harvested using a machete eliminating the need for heavy machinery and other invasive and destructive harvesting practices.

Using bamboo (from a panda-free region) helps preserve the planet's biodiversity by protecting the thousands of species that depend on forest ecosystems for survival.

Not only does using bamboo save forests, bamboo also releases 35% more oxygen compared to a similar area of hardwood trees. We call this win-win!

Independent Lab Testing

Are Betterway paper towels independently tested?

Yes, both white and brown, every year, for PFAS, BPA, and formaldehyde. Because they're used in the kitchen, we also run an additional test tied to FDA food-contact material standards.

Does it contain PFAS?

Same testing and same result as our toilet paper: total organic fluorine screening, well under the EU's limit, the strictest in the world for this test.

How often do you test, and why to EU standards?

Every year, full line. We hold ourselves to the EU's stricter threshold rather than the US minimum, because we'd rather set our own bar than meet someone else's.

Full results, including BPA and formaldehyde, are on our lab testing page.

Bit scratchy and thin but gets the job done!

I love that they come individually wrapped so there’s no need for plastic. I’m working on making better environmental choices so this is a good start. They are also a bit pricey for paper towels but that’s ok, a little goes a long way! I was able to clean my electric stove with this and while it is scratchy and a bit thin I didn’t have to use as many sheets as other kinds.

Ummmm, not reusable?

Make sure you read the description. They’re not reusable and very thin. Trying more eco- friendly products to be responsible but Not likely to purchase again. The first time I wet it and put on tension it ripped on both sides. Fell apart while taking pic. Seems expensive for a disposable towel.

Is this much paper packaging a “Better way”?

Why does 12 rolls of paper towel require four pounds of attendant packaging, paper or not?Photo shows what they arrived in, plus a 2/3 spent roll of a competing non-tree roll.Pretty.Kudos to your design agency.But. Does not seem like a good value or good for anyone to waste so much paper on packaging.

Some great things about these paper towels

Okay, so there are some good things about these paper towels. First, I love how they are packaged. Each roll comes in its own pretty colored paper wrapping. And this wrapping can be used for other things. I am using my wrappers for baby clothes patterns (I am learning to sew baby clothes). Second, I love the message this company promotes. I was skeptical of paper towel makers contributing to massive deforestation. Most of that kind of thing is companies making huge roads and building infrastructure in the rain forests to exploit the forests (a very bad thing). BUT, every little bit helps. We need the trees. Wildlife needs the trees. The earth needs the trees. We all need thriving forests throughout the world. We don't need more junk and more exploitation for monetary gain and greed. Third, the box of 6 rolls costs $18.99 and so that is like a bit over $3 a roll. More than what you pay locally, but the extra expense is not that much, and it goes to a good company which is trying to make a difference in our world-wide consumption. So those are the things I like about this product. On the negative side, they just feel like a cheap paper towel. They aren't particularly soft or anything. The quality I'd compare to a cheap paper towel brand and the rolls are small. The single roll in one of my pictures was brand new when the photo was taken.

Absorb very well

This box includes 6 rolls of eco friendly paper towels. Tear easily at the perforations. These are great for cleaning up messes, and I am happy with the absorbency.

Better Then I Expected 🏆

I received one box of "Betterway Bamboo Paper Towels". In the box is 6 rolls of individually wrapped Bamboo paper towels.I was curious to try another brand of Bamboo paper towels. I have used Bamboo paper towels in the past & believe me, they aren't all great.I was pleasantly surprised that these "Betterway Bamboo Paper Towels" are similar to regular paper towels in both appearance & feel. I like that they come in rolls. The rolls are smaller then a typical regular roll of paper towels though. The sheets on the roll are not full sheets (like most regular rolls of paper towels). These paper towel sheets are like half of that size. They are easy to tear off the roll. These paper towels also feel thicker then most name brand regular paper towels but aren't rough to the touch. I've used these Bamboo paper towels to dry off my face & hands as well as blow my nose on.Here are the Pros & Cons of this product as I see it ...* Pros *- The paper towels are individually wrapped.- They are very similar to a regular roll of paper towels in look, feel & absorbency.- Using them helps the environment.* Cons *- The rolls of paper towels are smaller.- The price is a little higher then most regular brands of paper towels for 6 rolls.Compared to my previous experience with using Bamboo paper towels these ("Betterway Bamboo Paper Towels") are a way better option. I thought all Bamboo paper towels would feel rubbery to the touch & were non-absorbent. Now I know that just isn't true. For a more Eco Friendly choice ... I would definitely recommend these Bamboo paper towels.

A Better Way to clean up messes!

I use Betterway bamboo TP and their bidet so was happy to see they expanded into bamboo paper towels. They arrived quickly and I'm always impressed by their plastic-free packaging, design, and presentation. I opened my first roll-up last week so I could test them out and here's my take.I like to use paper towels mainly when I know I am going to have to throw out the aftermath. That way my sponge or cloths stay cleaner for things like my hands or dishes. I feel much less guilty using these since they are tree-free, processed more naturally, and better overall for the environment. So far I've wiped up things like spaghetti sauce, messy pots/pans, cleaned the oven/microwave, etc. All without any issues tearing or falling apart. Impressed by their absorbency too!I saw another review compare these to bamboo clothes, towels, and sheets LOL. These aren't soft but who needs a soft paper towel? I'm not wearing or sleeping with them. They are doing my dirty work! I have tried other alternatives but these tear better off the roll, feel sturdier, and honestly, I just truly love this brand, their mission, and their colors look great on my shelf! They may cost a few extra bucks but it costs money to get this type of stuff produced before it's adopted by the masses. I say ditch the big national brands and get these to support a small business! Go Betterway!

For those eco-aware, these towels are very good

Of course, we know the negative impact on the planet that we make by using paper products. It's great that we are moving towards alternatives like these bamboo paper towels. The question is, are they as good as the paper name-brand counterparts?I suppose the best answer is "nearly." These bamboo towels are fairly strong yet soft to the touch. They don't rip easily like the eco recycled towels I have tried. They do a decent job of absorbing spills though I found the paper counterparts to hold more water and be less soggy. The problem is, eco-friendly products like these are not going to be convincing buys to consumers when the paper alternatives are less expensive. You get 6 rolls of towels in this package, but the diameter (3.75 inches) is small. For the price of 6 of these rolls, I can buy a name-brand bulk pack of normal paper towels with a larger diameter which means much more sheets for the price.I gave these towels a 5-star review based on the fact that as an eco-friendly alternative, these perform nearly as well as normal paper towels. Anyone looking to move to non-paper alternatives will be very happy with this product. And, yes, they come wrapped in paper, not plastic. The downside obviously is the cost and how much less you get for the price compared to the name-brand paper offerings.

This was my first order. And I had no idea what to expect. I am very pleased the toilet bamboo sheets. They do not rip and are comfortable to use. I also don’t use the roll as fast as the other tree product that was 2 ply.
The paper towels are also great, strong enough for my needs.
Happy to use bamboo products and no trees for what I need.
I will order again and start a subscription next time.

Hi Therese! We're thrilled to hear you're happy with our bamboo products and appreciate your support for sustainable choices. We look forward to serving you for many years and are excited to have you start a subscription next time.

I used to order this from amazon and switched directly to the manufacturer and to my surprise, not only was it more expensive than amazon BUT the rolls themselves had less sheets than the ones from amazon. Will be cancelling my subscription

Soft and not confetti fibrous. No plastic wrapping, peace of mind so far.

Not wrapped in any plastic. Rolls dont take up too much space. Bounty always leaves insane micro fibers on the dash of the car. This paper towel does not leave micro fibers. I would use on my face or the floor. Always exciting to unwrap a different color roll. Soft.

Very small rolls

Works fine, but not a great value given the limited number of sheets. Others equally environmentally friendly are available that work as well.

Wonderful and Non-Toxic

I love that these paper towels are non-toxic, from a renewable source (bamboo), and have less packaging/no plastic packaging. They are good paper towels, too! They hold up to messes, cleaning, and are absorbent. The only negative is that recently they changed something to the paper tube at the center making it really tight on some standard paper towel holders…it’s hard to spin now to release a section of towel. Instead you have to spin the towel holder to release what you want.
