Natural Brown Paper Towels (8 rolls)

10 Reviews

Box of 8 rolls. 110 sheets/roll of 2-Ply, 100% organically grown bamboo.

WhAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHITE & NATURAL BROWN PAPER TOWELS?

Both types of paper towels serve the same purpose and are the same quality. The choice between them mostly comes down to personal preference. Our classic white paper towels are whitened using an elemental chlorine free (ECF) process. Unlike traditional paper towels, which are whitened with bleach, ECF paper towels are whitened using a process that doesn't release toxic chlorinated substances into the environment and is more energy efficient.

Our natural browned paper towels skip the whitening process all-together! This means that production takes less resources (water, energy, whitening agents). The light brown, creamy (our designers call it cappuccino) hue comes from the natural bamboo pulp.

We launched with white paper towels because (through interviews with our customers) we discovered that far more people were willing to try alternative paper products if they were white. Our goal is to be in as many homes as possible promoting sustainability, so we chose to brighten our paper through a safe process to help people make an easy switch to tree-free.

As the brand grew, we asked our community to let us know if they were interested in brown paper towels. Sure enough, many of you said you'd love to have a natural pulp version, so we made it happen. 🙃

Lint Free and Renewable

I love these paper towels because they are sturdy and lint free when you clean windows and mirrors. That they are made from bamboo, a fast growing, renewable plant, keeps more trees in our environment to clean the atmosphere.

We're so happy to have found non-toxic, organic paper towels!

I've been reading for years about the potential health dangers of using traditional paper towels with their bleach and chemicals, but couldn't find any good solution. With the recent news that conventional paper towels almost always also contain PFAS and BPA toxins, I renewed my search for a safer alternative, and finally found Betterway. We love that the paper towels coming into contact with our kitchen surfaces and skin are now organic bamboo, and so much safer for our family and the environment.

Sold!

We used Costco paper towels for year then decided to try these that don’t use chemicals to whiten them. I was a bit skeptical. We love them. They are stronger than Costco’s paper towels and no chemicals. Blown away that we haven’t started using these years ago.

Go-to towel

These are my new go-to paper towels. Love the half sheet size and the varying soft side vs bumpy side, so I can use them both as napkins and for cleaning the kitchen/bathroom.

Surprisingly Excellent Paper Towels

I was wondering how they would feel and absorb but we were really shocked to see they perform excellent and they are very soft to the touch. We use to get Costco brand all the time but wanted to get away from the chemicals and bleach they use in paper towels and we love it. Highly recommend it. If you put your tab water in a glass of water, test it, it will be full of chlorine. Now fill another glass but this time put your hand in the glass for a minute and test it. There will be no chlorine in the water because your hand absorbed the chlorine. Imagine all the bleaches and soaps full of chemicals being absorbed by your body, not knowing. You decide…Our health is so much better once we changed.

Paper towels

A little smaller than I am used to. Takes getting used to. Not as absorbant as compared to others. Learning curve. Will try to keep going with them. Love the pale yellow color.

Natural Brown Paper Towels

I like that they are 1/2 sheets. I like that they are supposedly better for the planet. But these are very thin so I end up using twice as many.

Work very well

These paper towels are very absorbent. I prefer the natural brown because the white ones are bleached, which is not necessary for a paper towel and harms the environment. The rolls seem smaller than cheaper white ones, but if you care about the environment, this is a great choice.

Sustainability

What does tree-free mean?

Traditionally, toilet paper and paper towels are made from trees cut down in forests around the world (but mainly Canada, Brazil, and northern Europe). Our paper is made of 100% premium bamboo fibers. Bamboo is actually a giant grass, not a tree - hence the term TREE-FREE! The result is a product that performs great, without needing to destroy our ecosystems to produce it.

Deforestation is a major contributor to climate change and toilet paper is a purchase that we all make on a regular basis without giving much thought to how that purchase impacts our planet. By switching to bamboo, we can have a positive collective impact on the future of our forests, and our planet.

Why do you use bamboo?

To reduce deforestation! Bamboo is a renewable resource that can be used to produce a high quality paper with a smaller carbon footprint. It grows 10x faster than trees, making it ultra renewable and an excellent sustainable alternative for producing paper.

Bamboo is a giant grass, which makes it a colony plant. This means that it grows through a root system, spreads quickly and easily, and doesn't need to be replanted when it's cut - it just shoots right back up from the bud! It can be farmed without the need of irrigation, fertilization, pesticides, or herbicides.

What about pandas?

The bamboo we use for our paper is not panda food! We source it from small, local farms in a region that is not a part of panda habitats. Because bamboo grows easily, quickly and can be harvested every 6-12 months, there is no need to ruin any ecosystems to harvest it. There's plenty of bamboo to go around!

Is your paper FSC® certified?

YES!

Our partners maintain all FSC® certifications to exceed all standards of the Forest Stewardship Council® for environmental responsibility. We source our bamboo pulp from organically-grown groves owned by small farmers as a side-crop to supplement their income. This means that the bamboo is harvested by hand in a small-scale operation that has a small ecological impact.

How do you choose your manufacturing partners?

One of the certifications that we require our partners to have is amfori BSCI. This organization certifies supply chains and working conditions to be fair, sustainable, safe, and transparent.

We believe it takes transparency, trust, and mutual respect to build a business that does things the better way. we spend a great deal of time vetting our manufacturing partners before we build a relationship with them because we know that changing the world starts with changing the way we do business.

Toilet Paper

Is this toilet paper 3 ply?

YES!

Each roll is 3 ply! Triple the comfort, triple the quality, and triple the strength. Compare this to your leading toilet paper brands next time you're shopping. A thicker paper means that rolls last longer because you can use less paper each time.

Each roll has 360 sheets! That's almost 2x longer than the industry average!

When shopping for toilet paper it's easy to get caught up in the big adjectives like "mega" and "super", but what matters most is how much paper you're getting with each purchase.

There's 39.6 square feet in a single roll roll! If you want to know how many square feet per box:

  • 12 pack:  475.2 sq feet
  • 24 pack:  950.4 sq feet
  • 36 pack:  1,425.6 sq feet

To make rolls appear bigger than they are, major toilet paper brands fluff their rolls with air. This makes the rolls look big and allows these companies to market them as "double the size" even if the number of sheets doesn't actually change. We've made a decision not to play that game.

Instead, we focused on the environmental impact of packing more sheets in a smaller space. Because our rolls are compacted (vs loosely rolled with air in between) they look smaller. Our compact rolls take up less shipping space which reduces packaging and carbon emissions from transportation, while providing one of the highest sheet count per roll in the market!

Each of our rolls is 360 sheets (3.9x3.9in), 3 ply, and made from 100% premium bamboo pulp.

YES!

It's passed all septic safety tests. Additionally, because our paper is strong and 3-ply, you don't need a lot to get the job done. That being said, we are aware that not every tank is created equal, so just wipe with care and flush regularly to avoid any of those nasty backups.

NOPE! None of those in Betterway bamboo toilet paper.

It's a decision we made after many conversations with our customers. The results were clear - far more people were willing to try an alternative toilet paper only if it was white. We'd love to be in as many homes as possible promoting sustainability, so we chose white toilet paper to make a bigger impact switching people to tree free TP.

Traditionally, toilet paper is whitened using chlorine (AKA bleach), a strong chemical that is harsh on the body and the planet. Fortunately, better options exist. Our bamboo toilet paper is whitened using an elemental chlorine free (ECF) process. It's a lot better for the environment and safer for our customers. By avoiding the use of elemental chlorine gas during the bleaching process, it prevents the formation of carcinogens.

If you're interested in a natural brown toilet paper - let us know! We are always looking for feedback from our community and ways to improve our product.

We love supporting sustainable products, but it always makes us scratch our heads when we receive an "eco-friendly" product in wasteful, plastic packaging. We wanted to take a holistic approach to sustainability.

Rather than choosing the cheapest option, we chose the option that best helps us achieve one of our goals - reducing the use of plastic in single use packaging. The wrappers are both functional and practical. They meet all hygiene standards, protect the rolls during transport, and stack beautifully in your bathroom waiting patiently for their turn to be used. Plus, they are compostable!

YES! We built elements of circular design and waste reduction into our product and making the wrappers compostable was a big part of that. All wrappers are colored using nontoxic dyes, so your plants will love it.

We also encourage you to upcycle the wrappers! They make for great gift wrapping and arts and crafts!

NOPE!

The rolls are individually wrapped in paper to avoid using plastic. The box is made of recycled cardboard, so you'll notice its different than any toilet paper you see in stores. Even the tape is plastic free - it's actually made with paper, water, and sugar!

We're an American company, but there is no infrastructure or bamboo supply to have a "Made in USA" paper at this time. After searching far and wide, the highest quality bamboo toilet paper we found was being produced in China.

When the time comes we'd love to find a North American based partner (so if you have any leads, please send us an email at hello@gobetterway.com)! Meanwhile, we've found a partner who understands our mission and truly wants to help make a positive impact on deforestation in the world.

Paper Towels

How do these compare to regular paper towels?

Regular paper towels are made from tree fibers - what the industry calls virgin pulp. Wood fibers are long so they can be loosely woven. This makes for a fluffy, absorbent product (like a sponge) but at the expense of our forest ecosystems 😞.

Disposable bamboo paper towels are strong, absorbent, and (most importantly) a sustainable option for the majority of your household clean-up + wipe-down needs.

Think of them as an awesome alternative for your average wiping needs and the perfect sidekick to dishcloths or sponges for bigger spills.

How many sheets are in a roll?

Our rolls have 90 pick-a-size sheets. Each sheet is 10.8 inches tall by 6.3 inches wide.

Will the roll fit in my paper towel holder?

The short answer is: YES. Our rolls are designed to fit a standard paper towel holder. But if you want to be extra sure, our roll diameter is around 3.75 inches and the core diameter (hole) is 1.57 inches.

Do they contain any inks, dyes, or scents?

NOPE! None of those in Betterway paper products.

Are the paper towels food safe?

YES! Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic so it's safe for you to use as a napkin, wrap veggies in the fridge, cover your food in the microwave, etc.

What's with the paper wrappers?

We love supporting sustainable products, but it always makes us scratch our heads when we receive an "eco-friendly" product in wasteful, plastic packaging. We wanted to take a holistic approach to sustainability.

Bidet Attachment

If you need help installing your bidet, please visit our bidet help center

How is using a bidet more eco-friendly?

Think of the process it takes to get that toilet paper roll to your bathroom. You need trees (or plants) to grow, they need to be cut down, then transported to a factory. Once in the factory wood and plant fibers need to be broken down into pulp and turned into paper. This requires A LOT of water and electricity. Then the paper needs to be packaged, transported on a boat to the US, on a truck to the warehouse, and on another truck to your home! By using a bidet, you drastically reduce the amount of TP that you need — sometimes even down to zero! This means that you are saving alll of the resources mentioned above, over and over again for years to come! And because our bidet works with the water pressure from your pipes, you don't even need electricity to make it run!

Does using a bidet waste a lot of water?

We get why it might seem like bidets waste a lot of water, but they actually SAVE tons of water. How? Because they really help us reduce the amount of toilet paper we use. Producing TP (breaking down wood and plant fibers to turn them into paper) requires a lot of water. 473.5 billion gallons of water a year to be exact. Instead, the bidet uses a small, efficient stream of fresh water to help you clean.

What’s the benefit of using a bidet vs. wet wipes?

You don't need wet wipes with a bidet! Which is great news, because:

  1. Wet wipes are terrible for the environment! The vast majority of wet wipes contain microplastics in their fibers which do not biodegrade and end up in our food chain.
  2. Wet wipes are notorious for clogging pipes and causing messy headaches.
  3. Wet wipes are single-time use and you need to keep rebuying them. By including a bidet in your wiping routine you'll save hundreds of dollars in wet wipes every year.

Will using a bidet help me use less toilet paper?

Everyone's wiping habits are different (so some people will see a bigger difference than others) but you should definitely be able to reduce the amount of paper you need. On average, people say they reduce their TP consumption by 50%. Some bidet die-hard-fans even go 100% paper free and use a designated bum towel to pat dry!

Think about it, if you use a bidet you don't need to wipe over and over again until you're clean. You just need to pat dry once you are done using the bidet.

Where does the water I spray myself with come from?

It's the same water that comes out of your sink and your shower! The bidet connects to the clean water valve in your wall . As one of our customers put it: "If you're comfortable washing your hands with that water then I'm sure you'll be perfectly fine washing your butt with it."

Will the water spraying out of the bidet be cold?

Most people we've asked say the water feels FRESH! We tested the bidet all through winter in Colorado and the water never really felt cold even if it was snowing outside. It really does feel refreshing every time!

Do I need tools to install the bidet on my toilet?

All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver (and in some cases adjustable plyers or a wrench) — everything else is included in the box.

Will the bidet fit on my toilet?

Our bidet is designed to fit on over 90% of toilets in the US. The most important piece of the equation is to make sure your toilet has access to the tank's water connection valve . Can you easily unscrew the hose that is currently sending water from your pipes to the toilet tank? If the answer is YES, then we're pretty sure our bidet attachment will be a breeze to install!

If you don't see an easy access point to the hose connection, you might have a unique toilet. Check out the answers below for more info.

If you're still not sure which type of toilet you have or if it will fit, feel free to send us an email with a photo of your toilet from the side to hello@gobetterway.com and we'll help you figure it out!

How far does it stick out from the side of the toilet? (I don’t have much room)

Great question! Toilet bowls can be all different shapes and sizes so it's best to check that you have at least 12 inches clearance from the center of the backside of the toilet bowl to the left (when facing the toilet).

bidet

Can I install the bidet attachment on a skirted toilet?

On standard toilets, the T-adapter we provide is installed where the hose connects to the tank. For a skirted toilet, that connection might be hard to reach or not visible... but there's an easy fix!

You just need to purchase a 3/8" T-adapter and install it where your toilet's flexible steel hose connects to the water supply.

Can I install the bidet attachment on a wall-mounted toilet?

Wall-mounted toilets can be tricky since you don't have access to the water connections (they are hidden inside the wall). Yet, if you REALLY want a bidet, there are options!

As long as your sink is within 9 feet of the toilet (and on the same side of the bathroom), you can connect the bidet to your sink's water supply. You will need to purchase a longer hose and/or a mini adapter. So be sure to check all the connection points before buying/installing.

Can I install the bidet attachment on a flushometer toilet?

Flushometer toilets can be tricky since the toilet is directly connected to your pipes and there's nowhere to attach the bidet hose onto the water supply. Yet, if you REALLY want a bidet, there are options!

As long as your sink is within 9ft. of the toilet (and on the same side of the bathroom), you can connect the bidet to your sink's water supply. You will need to purchase a longer hose and/or a mini adapter, so be sure to check all the connection points before installing.

How do I use the bidet?

There are two labels on the bidet control panel: NOZZLE and WASH. Turn the knob clockwise to NOZZLE and the spray nozzle will rinse itself. Turn the knob counterclockwise to WASH and the bidet will wash your booty. Rotate the knob slowly while you figure out what level of water pressure feels comfortable.

You may need to wiggle or scoot back to find the best position, but once you figure that out, just let the bidet do its thing for a few seconds. Then pat yourself dry with a small amount }of toilet paper (or a designated bathroom towel if you're an eco-warrior).

Can you use the bidet for washing lady parts?

The short answer is: It's possible!

The longer answer is: our bidet is a single-nozzle bidet. It is designed for the optimal bum wash! So if you want to use it to was your lady parts, you will need to scoot/wiggle around on the seat until you find an angle that gets the spray where you need it. But (as confirmed by our female cofounder) "it's definitely possible" 🙃.

How does the self-cleaning nozzle work?

The nozzle on the Betterway Bidet is actually retractable, so unless the bidet is on it isn't exposed. This helps keep the nozzle clean from any water that splashes. But just to be extra sure, you can turn the bidet knob to the right and water will come out from the nozzle. This allows the nozzle to rinse itself. You can run the water for a few seconds before or after you use the bidet to keep it extra clean.

Can the water pressure be adjusted?

Yes! Our bidet comes with 6 levels of water pressure. We recommend you start slowly and work your way up to see what works for you.

Will the seat be angled up when the bidet is installed?

We designed our bidet to be extra slim so that it would sit seamlessly in most toilets. However, depending on the model of your toilet, there are times when there might be a gap towards the front of the seat. That's why we include 3 bumpers that can be attached onto the toilet seat to fix the gap.

Can the bidet be uninstalled and reinstalled on a different toilet?

Yes! Uninstalling it is even easier than installing it! You can take it with you and just install it on your new toilet.

Is there a warranty for the bidet?

The Betterway bidet comes with a non-transferable warranty that covers manufacturing defects under normal usage conditions for a period of 12 months. Registered Betterway bidet owners will receive an extended 18-month warranty from the date of purchase.

For more information, check out our terms and conditions.
