Prep your work station
Place a hand towel on the floor under the hose connection before you start. This will help keep things tidy as a small amount of water might drip from the hose or tank.

Disconnect the hose from the toilet tank
Most connection hoses can be unscrewed by hand. Once you detach the hose from the bottom of the toilet tank, empty any excess water onto the towel.
If the hose is stuck
Hold the fill valve on the tank with one hand. With the other hand, use adjustable pliers or a wrench to turn the nut on the hose.
* Use a towel in between pliers and valve to avoid stripping the metal.
